Quality Handbook: Standards for Exceptional Glass

sedak’s guideline for quality

Quality Handbook: Standards for Exceptional Glass

The glass manufacturer sedak has released a new quality handbook. It defines the manufacturing tolerances and is the basis for the visual assessment of sedak products. Besides the standards, regulations and data sheets mentioned in the handbook, order-specific tolerances are determined especially due to the current technical production capabilities. Designers now have a concrete guideline with technical data like dimensions, flatness, edge seal as well as visual characteristics. The handbook specifies the quality of sedak’s entire product range, from basic glass to insulating glass.

Generally, sedak complies with the indicated standards. Higher quality levels are feasible on request. The quality handbook can be downloaded at www.sedak.com.

The quality handbook is the basis for the assessment of the products that are manu-factured and supplied by sedak GmbH & Co. KG. It defines the physical and visual tolerance areas of the glass products and supple-ments the terms and conditions.

Leading glass

sedak, the glass manufacturer in Gersthofen, Germany, was founded in 2007. With its 150 employees, the world’s leading glass fabricator produces insulating and safety glass in dimensions up to 3.2m x 16m: processed, tempered, laminated, printed, coated, and cold bent. The core capabilities are the lamination of glass, edging, and the company’s know-how of producing glass components with additional functional and decorative elements. sedak’s production has been optimized for extraordinary glass sizes; the level of automation for such glass dimensions is unique. All finishing steps are handled in-house e.g. with the new, fully automated insulating glass line. As a full supplier for large-size glass units, sedak sees itself as a partner for architects, designers, and façade constructors. Outstanding references are for example the Apple Cube and the Lincoln Center Canopies in New York, the Städel Museum in Frankfurt, and the Tottenham Court Road Station in London.
